Area Nine Phone Banking Night

Over the last weekend  volunteers registered nearly 8,500 new voters. We realize this is the first step in a two part process since we now have to motivate and persuade these new voters, along with ten thousand others, to vote in their first Presidential election. Past statistics have shown only one in four new registered voters actually cast a ballot in their first election unless the campaign and the party contact them again and again to vote. Then the turnout for these new voters approaches the rate of more established voters (which in this case will be an 80% turnout).  The Obama campaign bought $2.9 million in television advertisements in Florida for the week ending 6 October 2008  During this same week McCain spend $0.6 million. This advertising advantaged has tipped Florida into the Democratic column. There is much to be done during the next 26 days to ensure we stay there.
